The 2012 Auto Expo show in New Delhi is a big event. Already, because this show car / motorcycle is one of the largest in the world in terms of models presented as well as attendance and because the Indian market is the second global market, with 13 million vehicles sold, including 2.5 million scooter! Not surprising then to see the Piaggio Group to expand its plants and offer models specifically designed for this country, like the new Vespa LX 125 produced in the Baramati plant.
Unlike the Vespa LX as we know it in Europe, the United States or even in Vietnam, the new Vespa LX 125 Indian differs by its ergonomics and mechanical part.
To satisfy customers in India, the Italian engineers have reviewed their copy (particularly in terms of their road network) to propose here an LX 125 with the mechanical part and the wheels are more readily available.
Motor side, the new Vespa Strenna single-cylinder 125 cm3, 4T, 3-valve cylinder head with a block designed specifically for the Indian market. In addition to its silent operation, it would have the advantage of being particularly simple, no drinking from (according to the manufacturer) only 1.7 l/100 km (60 km traveled per liter of fuel).
The production of the Vespa LX 125 “India Special” is scheduled to begin in March 2012 in the new plants Baramati, near the place where his product commercial vehicles with three wheels of the Italian brand, sold over 220,000 copies in 2011 across the country.
